Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” economist and political commentator Julianne Malveaux said the curfew that the Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake put in place “seemed like a plantation at some level that the overseers are deciding you can’t go outside.”
“[I]t’s overtime and small businesses lost a lot of money on Saturday night fight night and people just weren’t able to be out, Malveaux said. “So there is a balance and the business community is going to pressure. But almost seemed like a plantation at some level that the overseers are deciding you can’t go outside. Even the legal observers were arrested. It’s time to lift the curfew, but also time, it’s over time to look at the whole underlying issue as you spoke with Tavis regarding jobs.”
