NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” revealed they were too scared of backlash to make any jokes about Bruce Jenner during their “Weekend Update” segment.

Co-host Colin Jost said that while Jenner’s interview was “moving and brave” and dealt with a “delicate subject,” “as a comedy show, we still need to make jokes about it.”

He then nervously reminded the audience of Jenner’s bravery, while stammering, asking co-host Michael Che to jump in, which Che declined. Jost then began a joke by saying he and Che had been talking earlier, which prompted Che to jump in, “no, man, that was just you.”

Jost then began another thought “any way you slice it,” which Che informed him was terrible word choice.

Jost concluded by awkwardly stammering as he decided to move on.
