On Wednesday, WFAA Dallas news anchor Dale Hansen ripped the Dallas Cowboys for their recent signing of former star Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy to a contract. Hardy was convicted of assaulting a female and threatening to kill her, but his case got thrown out in February when his accuser and ex-girlfriend Nicole Holder was a no-show to the appeal case.
According to Hansen, the Cowboys have sunk to a new low because they signed Hardy, but the front office’s decisions to keep other players guilty of crimes shows the Cowboys do not care about the off-field issues.
“Just when I begin to think the Cowboys can’t possibly sink any lower, they can’t fall from grace anymore they have they find another shovel and dig a few feet deeper. Hardy is only available because Carolina didn’t want him anymore and only 2 or 3 other NFL teams did. Funny how so many teams would pass on such a great talent only because he beat up his former girlfriend. But your Cowboys didn’t. And so many of you are so happy.”
He added, “I don’t care how good he is, I don’t care if the Cowboys made a great deal and I absolutely don’t care about the argument so many of you make that what he does off the field just doesn’t matter if he can help you win on the field. Is there no line you won’t cross? Is there no crime you won’t accept? Is there no behavior you will not tolerate? The Cowboys have decided players who use illegal drugs can play. You drive drunk and kill a teammate putting everyone on that highway at risk, there’s a place on this team for you. You could rob a department store and play, and now you can beat a woman and play with a star on your helmet.”
