Thursday on TV One’s “News One Now,” host Roland Martin said Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) was “flat-out wrong” to suggest racism is behind Republicans stalling a confirmation vote on Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch, when he said the GOP is making Lynch go to to “the back of the bus.”
Martin said “I’m not gonna let Dick Durbin off the hook, aiding the opposition out, because they can now focus on you and your comment versus why she’s actually being held up.”
Martin said, “I think Durbin was wrong, I think Durbin was flat out wrong. The reason I say that is—we know why this is being held up, they are ticked at President Obama They are ticked at Holder, her points on immigration. I will call someone out on race. She has been confirmed twice before unanimous. And so you do that and really what you’re doing is helping the opposition now, because now they can focus on you and your comment versus why she is being held up.”
Martin said “black folks” must hold people accountable who falsely invoke race saying, “We got to be able to call out a Democrat who does it.”
