Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s statement regarding him being a spokesmen for all Jewish people (a statement that was referring to him going to Paris after the terror attacks there, but where he also said “just as I went to Paris, so I will go anyplace I’m invited to convey the Israeli position”) as “arrogant” and declared that Netanyahu’s “arrogance does not befit Israel” on Sunday’s “State of the Union” on CNN.
Feinstein was asked to give her reaction as a Jewish-American to the statement, to which she stated, “I think it’s a rather arrogant statement. I think the Jewish community is like any other community, there are different points of view. So, I think that arrogance does not befit Israel, candidly. I think Israel is a nation that needs to be protected, that needs to stand free, that hopefully can work constructively with Palestinians to have a side-by-side state and to put an end to the bitterness that has plagued this whole area.”
