IRS Deputy Inspector General Timothy Camus testified that his office recovered an additional 424 recovery tapes used to back-up IRS e-mails “that had never been disclosed” in testimony before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Thursday.

“Two weeks ago, we recovered an additional 424 tapes” he stated.

When asked by Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) how he discovered the tapes, Camus said “as we were following up on our initial interviews, we realized that we were missing a document. When we obtained that document and reviewed it, we realized that there were an additional population of tapes that had been unaccounted for.”

He further revealed that the missing document was “an IRS document,” but would not say that the IRS “withheld” the document. He did say that the newly discovered 424 tapes “had never been disclosed.”
