Wednesday at the Republican House leadership press conference, when asked about the political battle over funding the Department of Homeland Security Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) repeated several times “I’m waiting for the Senate to act.”

He added, “The House has done it’s job to fund the Department of Homeland Security and to stop the presidents overreach on immigration and we are waiting for the Senate to do its job. Senate Democrats have stood in the way now for three weeks over a bill that should have been debated and passed.”

The House passed a DHS bill that holds any funding that would go towards implementing President Obama’s executive order amnesty. That bill has been filibustered by Senate democrats for weeks.

Facing the funding deadline and a possible shutdown of DHS, Tuesday Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said he is now willing to have a vote on a “clean” bill funding the department.
