MSNBC Military Analyst Gen. Barry McCaffrey (Ret.) declared that the prisoner swap for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl set “a terrible precedent” on Saturday’s “Up with Steve Kornacki” on MSNBC.
“That’s what the problem with trading five major terrorists for Sgt. Bergdahl [was]. It was a terrible precedent to set, regardless of the fact he was–also had left his post in combat and abandoned his unit, but I mean, the thought that we’d hand over high value insurgents to these people set a terrible precedent…the danger is now, in Lebanon, in Jordan, and elsewhere in the Arab world, people are going to try and snatch Americans” he stated.
