MSNBC’s “Hardball” host Chris Matthews said that “I don’t see how anybody who’s African-American would think about voting Republican as long as Reince Priebus is running the show” due to the GOP’s support for voter ID laws on Wednesday.
“They’re [Republicans] still arguing…that the reason that they’re making it tough for people to vote, in a big macro sense, like you’ve got to go down to DOT, you got to get a picture taken, you got to get all of this done because they think there’s a lot of cheating by blacks. That’s what they think” he stated.
After Chicago Tribune columnist Clarence Page drew parallels between voter ID and voting restrictions by “Southern segregationists,” Matthews concluded “”I don’t see how anybody who’s African-American would think about voting Republican as long as Reince Priebus is running the show.”
