Former NYPD Commissioner Bernard Kerik stated that New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) could not mend fences with the NYPD unless Al Sharpton was kept out of city politics on Monday’s “Kelly File” on the Fox News Channel.
Kerik said that in order for de Blasio and the NYPD to mend fences, “one thing that’s going to have to happen is the mayor’s going to have to keep Al Sharpton out of city politics.”
He added “I was infuriated by the mayor having Sharpton with the police commissioner at that meeting and having Sharpton as sort of a point-man on race relations between the NYPD and the city of New York and the communities.Hhe doesn’t represent the communities of the city of New York. I promise you. You go out to the community council leaders in each precinct, most of them want nothing to do with the guy. They don’t want him [anywhere] near them. He is not representing the real communities of New York City. I promise you.”
