Monday on “Fox & Friends” on the Fox News Channel, real estate mogul Donald Trump called on New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio to apologize for his rhetoric against the NYPD which originated in his stance against the stop and frisk program while campaigning for mayor.
“Well, it’s going to be hard because when Mayor de Blasio, now when he was campaigning, he was very, very tough on the police, very tough,” Trump said. “It all started with stop and frisk and it went sort of wild from there and the police were not liking it and they did like stop and frisk.”
“He’s got to explain his actions,” he continued. “His campaign was against police. It was a very violent and vicious campaign against the police and the police have done an amazing job. I remember the city when it was one of the most unsafe places to be and now it’s probably the safest place in America, safest big city there is.”
