Rutgers Coaching Staff Honors NYPD in Bowl Game

During ESPN’s broadcast of Friday’s Quick Lane Bowl game between the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and the North Carolina Tar Heels in Detroit, the coaching staff of Rutgers was shown wearing NYPD ball caps as a show of support for the New York City police department during a time of turmoil.

ESPN’s Nikki Noto explained the connection, which involves Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood. Flood’s brother, Jerry Flood Jr. is a 23-year veteran of the NYPD and works on the Emergency Services Unit, which is the city’s equivalent of a SWAT team.
