Report: NYPD, Protesters Have ‘Almost A Collaborative’ ‘Experience’

CNN National Correspondent Deborah Feyerick reported that the NYPD and has had an “almost a collaborative, if that’s the word for it, experience” with protesters who took the streets of New York after a grand jury’s decision not to issue an indictment in the death of Eric Garner on Wednesday’s “CNN Tonight.”

“The police have really given them [the protesters] very wide latitude. They have been able to keep a perimeter around the crowd, make sure they get where they’re going. They’ve stopped traffic. They have helped, helped some of the drivers, but they’re marching. And it’s sort of, almost a collaborative, if that’s the word for it, experience” she stated. 

Feyerick added “what their [the protesters’] goal was. It was to shuttle down the traffic. It was to take the streets. It was to show everyone that ‘this is what democracy looks like’ in their words, and that’s really what they’ve done.” Anchor Don Lemon further said that when he spoke to the NYPD at around 10:10 pm EST that there had been 30 arrests, but that more were expected.
