Rush: Remember When Politics and Football Weren’t Supposed to Mix?

On Monday, talk radio host Rush Limbaugh argued that the NFL showed a double standard in its refusal to discipline St. Louis Rams players who entered a game on Sunday with their hands up in a show of solidarity with Mike Brown.

“I remember the day when I was told that ‘no, no, no, we don’t do politics in football. No, no, no, no, no we don’t do politics here at ESPN'” he stated.  

Previously, one of Limbaugh’s former colleagues at ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” criticized him for letting “social commentary” would not creep into football discussions and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell criticized Limbaugh’s plan to own the St. Louis Rams by citing Rush’s “divisive comments.” 

Limbaugh also criticized the Rams players, saying that for them, “truth doesn’t matter, what the grand jury said doesn’t matter to a whole lot of people and this is all politics, it’s all political.” And that it seems “the truth doesn’t have the power to disprove what they want to believe.”
