Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) argued that Republicans should “stop complaining and stop whining” on illegal immigration on Thursday’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto” on the Fox News Channel.
Gutierrez blamed House Republicans for failing to act on immigration, saying “the House Republican majority does not take its cue on legislative practice or policy from the President of the United States. They could have presented their ideas, and we know it could have gone under regular order. There was a Senate bill, there was a House bill.” He later urged them to “stop complaining, and stop whining, and start legislating”
He responded to Cavuto’s argument that Obama could have pushed through immigration reform between the 2008 and 2010 elections by stating “his priority then, it wasn’t my priority, was the Affordable Care Act. That was his priority then.”
Gutierrez also argued “everybody keeps talking about securing the border. Why do they always talk about the border between the United States and Mexico? What about the border at LAX? The border at JFK? The border at O’Hare? The border at Miami?” And that Republicans only talked about the U.S.-Mexico border.
