Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) said instead of going forward with his executive amnesty plan President Barack Obama needs to “take a breath” and “learn he lost the election.”
Romney said, “My advice to the democrats at this point and to the president in particular is take a breath. The president said that he was not on the ballot in the election that was just held. But policies were. The American people sent a very clear message to the president about his policies, they’re not happy about them. The republican Congress, House and Senate should come together with legislation that they put on his desk which relates to immigration. He can veto it or not, but let the congress and let the electorate have it’s say as opposed to jumping in and by doing something unilaterally, in way which is extra unconstitutional and he’s poking the eye of the republican leaders and in congress making it more difficult to be a permanent solution to this issue.”
He added, “The president has got to learn he lost the last election.”
