Howard Kurtz, host of the Fox News Channel’s “MediaBuzz,” argued that the clamor among members of the media to fire Valerie Jarrett was unfairly letting the president off the hook.
Kurtz discussed “the inevitable calls of the staff shake-up” by the media, which he said was almost a “knee-jerk” reaction to the Democrats’ drubbing in the 2014 election.
He then asked, “well, what about the guy at the top? … if she [Jarrett] has too much influence, who gives her that influence?” He pointed out that most of the complaints about Jarrett having too much sway within the White House were situations Obama allowed and that “whether Valerie Jarrett is there or not,” Obama still has to “salvage” his legacy as president and work with Republicans.
