Wednesday during Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) press conference after last night’s Republican victory said the U.S. Senate is going back to work for the American people but if President Barack Obama pushed forward with his executive amnesty that would be “like waving a red flag in front of a bull.”
McConnell pointed out several times that it was Senate Majority leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Obama who refused to comprise or allow legislation. And while McConnell was very confident he would be able to work with Democratic lawmakers, he said he had no idea how the president will respond recalling Obama’s past actions, including having said he will use “his pen” to do it himself.
McConnell said, “The House passed over 300 pieces of legislation. Many of them on a bipartisan basis and nothing was done with them in the senate. The American people have changed the senate. So, I think we have an obligation to change the behavior of the senate and to begin to function again.”
