In an excerpt from an upcoming interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour aired Tuesday afternoon, Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart offered his predictions for the midterm elections.
“We are talking as Americans go to an election, the midterms, right here today,” Amanpour began. “Did you vote?”
“No,” Stewart replied simply. “No, I just moved, I don’t even know where my thing is now. I moved to a different state.”
“For your job, for your work, is this going to be equal fodder for your comedy, or, how do you see this playing out, this midterm election?” Amanpour asked.
“If I’m listening to the people that know these things, that study these things, because that’s not what we do, the Republicans are going to win the Senate, they’re going to increase the House, they’re going to win the Supreme Court and the judiciary, and they’re gonna win a lot of the restaurants and lobbyists, they’re gonna win K Street, so the only thing that they don’t get, I think, is the presidency, in this election,” Stewart said.
“But, if it goes the way they want, enough votes, they may get that too, Obama may have to leave as well, so they may get everything that they want, and from what I understand, their first order of business will be to destroy ISIS and eradicate Ebola,” Stewart added. “If the commercials they’re running are to be believed.”
“So this is comedy as usual?” Amanpour asked.
“Oh, this is major, this is not comedy as usual,” replied Stewart. “This is a true changing point in American history.”
