On Thursday, the Fox News Channel’s “Kelly File” anchor Megyn Kelly read CDC guidelines and announcements regarding humanitarian workers who have worked in West Africa, which say the agency has “active post-arrival monitoring” that has not gone into effect yet.
According to a CDC release on Wednesday, October 22, “six states [including New York]” “have already taken steps to plan implement active post-arrival monitoring, which will begin on Monday, October 27.” Under “active post-arrival monitoring,” “travelers without febrile illness or symptoms consistent with Ebola will be followed up daily by state and local health departments for 21 days from the date of their departure from West Africa.”
The CDC’s Ebola guidelines instruct workers “monitor your health for 21 days if you were in an area with an Ebola outbreak,” but also says “during the time that you are monitoring your health, you can continue your normal activities, including work.”
