At a campaign event on Tuesday, Democratic senate hopeful Alison Lundergan Grimes responded to rhetoric from “Meet the Press” moderator Chuck Todd calling into question her candidacy earlier this month after refusing to answer questions about if she had voted for now-President Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012.
Todd’s remarks had been used in campaign advertising against Grimes by her opponent, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), the Senate Minority Leader.
“Kentucky is ready for a senator that’s an independent thinker that can put the partisanship aside and actually fight for the people for this state — one that won’t be bullied by Mitch McConnell or Chuck Todd,” Grimes said.
