On his Thursday show’s “Ya Burnt!” segment, “Late Night” host Seth Meyers took on the controversy surrounding the Center for Disease Control and its director Dr. Thomas Frieden’s response to the Ebola outbreak.
Meyers ridiculed Frieden and suggested embattled NFL commissioner Roger Goodell would be a more suitable leader for the organization.
“CDC director Thomas Frieden — I know people are a little too scared about Ebola, but can you be a little more scared?” Meyers said. “A nurse who treated an Ebola patient had a fever and the CDC told her it was OK to get on a plane to Cleveland. First of all, it’s never a good idea to get on a plane to Cleveland — side burn, Cleveland! And second of all, I can’t bring a bottle of water on a plane, but she can usher in the first chapter of Stephen King’s ‘The Stand?’ I can’t believe I’m saying this about the CDC, but can Roger Goodell take over? Tom Frieden, good news, you don’t have Ebola. Bad news, ya burnt!”
