According to a report on Wednesday’s “Kelly File” on the Fox News Channel, CDC Director Dr. Thomas Frieden claimed that he didn’t know that a nurse who had come into contact with Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan had a fever during an interview on Tuesday night’s “Kelly File” even though that nurse had already contacted the CDC about her fever before she boarded a flight on Monday, and had checked into a hospital with a fever earlier that day.
During the interview on Tuesday night, Frieden said that “we’ve surged our response so that we’ve tracked every one of those 48 patients in conjunction with the folks in Texas. Those contacts with the initial patient. Every day they’ve been tracked. None of them have fever.” He omitted that there were other individuals who were self-monitoring, including nurse Amber Vinson, who was later diagnosed with the Ebola virus after she reported to a hospital with a fever.
According to anchor Megyn Kelly, the CDC claimed through a spokesman that Frieden was not aware that Vinson had a fever until overnight on Tuesday, October 14.
CBS News reported that Vinson called the CDC and informed them that she had a fever before she flew on Monday, October 13. Also, Vinson checked into a hospital with a fever on the morning of Tuesday, October 14.
