Sunday on CBS’ “Face The Nation,” Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said he was “baffled,” by the White House’s criticisms of Israeli settlements because “ethnic purification” goes “against the American values.”
Last week, after a Jewish group announced settlers are moving into several apartment buildings purchased in a predominantly Arab neighborhood in Jerusalem, the White House attacked Israel, saying the move is “poisoning” the peace process.
Netanyahu said that putting any restrictions on where Jews could live is “against the American values. And it doesn’t bode well for peace.”
He said not allowing Jews and Arabs to live together is promoting “ethnic purification.”
“The idea that we’d have this ethnic purification as a condition for peace, I think it’s anti-peace,” he added.
