Sunday speaking to WMUR in Manchester, NH, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said President Barack Obama should not use the 2001 war authorization to go after ISIS because it’s “unconstitutional and wrong” for “one generation to bind another generation to war.”
Paul said, “Many of the soldiers we have fighting for us now were little kids in 2001. Many of the voters weren’t voting in 2001. I don’t think one generation can bind another generation to war. So the fact that we voted for a resolution to go into Afghanistan in 2001 and into Iraq in 2003 those resolutions were really about those times.”
He added, “This is a brand new threat, a different threat,” thus he said what Obama is doing is “unconstitutional and wrong.”
