On Friday, the Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor,” host Bill O’Reilly responded to State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf’s attacks on him for lacking “intelligence or class,” and using “sexist” and “personally offensive language.”
O’Reilly argued that “on the left those smears have now become a cottage industry.” And “the State Department’s response was ridiculous.” He also addressed Harf’s accusation that O’Reilly would never criticize a man the way he critiqued State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki by saying “tell that to White House Spokesman Josh Earnest” before playing an earlier clip of him observing that Earnest “doesn’t look like he has a lot of credibility”
He concluded, “The main point here is that smearing people is unacceptable, especially by folks representing the US government. I mean, Ms. Harf didn’t just go out there and say that off the top of her head. Secretary of State Kerry had to sign off on it, and it was a foolish thing to do. He should know better. But, this is what we are seeing right now in America, cheap shot alley coming from powerful politicians.” And “all Americans should demand that public servants deal with the issues and not embrace the tactics of gutter snipes. Really, is that too much to ask?”
