British Imam Makes 9/11 Terrorism Joke During CNN Sound Check

Sunday on CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” host Brian Stelter confronted radical Muslim cleric Anjam Choudary for making a joke about infamous terror attack dates including 9/11 during his sound check preparing for the interview.

Stelter confronted Choudary for making the joke saying, “Here’s what bothers me: When we were setting up for our interview here, the audio engineer asked you to count to ten to check the mic, and you started to do that — but then you said 9/11, 7/7, 3/11. Is this all some sort of joke to you?”

Choudary shot back, “You know, if you had a sense of humor, you would have laughed at that. It was just a sound check.”

“You shouldn’t take any of these things that seriously. If you want to make it a big deal, then so, but it makes you look much more shallow, really,” he added.

The 7/7 refers to the July 2005 London bus and tube bombings that killed 52 and injured over 700 people.

The 3/11 was referencing the March 11, 2004 Madrid train bombings that killed 191 people and injured 1,800.
