Video from a town hall meeting by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in Cabot, VT shows him being heckled by Hamas supporters despite his criticism of Israel. Sanders said that Israel “overreacted,” and some of their actions were “terribly, terribly wrong.”
He drew the ire of the crowd when he criticized Hamas. He ended up shouting “shut up” at a person who heckled him by claiming Hamas should be able to “resist” the Israelis. Others claimed “occupied populations have a right to resist” and claimed that the terror tunnels were for “survival.”
When Sanders said that Hamas does not want Israel to exist, one person in the crowd yelled back “bullsh*t” and argued that Hamas is also a “service organization.”
Sanders concluded by expressing his hope for a “two-state solution,” and stating that “the leadership on both sides is not particularly good.”
