Missouri State Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal (D-University City), whose district includes Ferguson, declared “we have anarchists here” in an interview on the Fox News Channel’s “The Real Story” on Monday.
Previously, she reported that there was an “outside influence” causing some of the unrest in Ferguson. “We’re going to have to find ways to calm down this community while getting out some of the negative impact. And we have anarchists here, which we do not welcome in this community” she said. Chappelle-Nadal also seemed to agree with Carlson’s assertion that some of the protesters were from “out of town.”
Chappelle-Nadal also criticized Gov. Jay Nixon (D-MO) and the Ferguson Police Department’s handling of the situation and alleged that the violence last night was a set-up by the police, saying, “We were leaving about sundown last night. We were going to go into one direction. We saw a gang of kids running into the direction where we were going, and then all of a sudden we heard five to six pops, gunfire.”
“Pop pop pop pop pop, and then we decided to go the other way, and then we ended up going south on West Florissant,” he continued. “And all day long we’d had at least 300 officers on each side of West Florissant and they were all gone. And then this morning I was on the ground about 6:00 this morning, speaking to someone in the media who said, ‘you know, we were contacted by someone in the police department or a police officer who said prior to the event, before curfew, that if you want to see something, we’ve got something to show you tonight.’”
