Craig McDonald, the director of Texans for Public Justice, the group that filed the charges which lead to the indictment announced Friday against Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) bragged to local news KXAN that they “shot down” former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) in the same manner.
In 2005. Texans for Public Justice filed trumped up complaints against DeLay, which forced the congressman to resign after a grand jury in liberal Austin indicted the congressman.
In 2010 DeLay was initially convicted in Travis County, which includes Austin. However, the Texas Court of Appeals later not only vacated the ruling but the court took the unprecedented step of reversing all judgments against DeLay and formally acquitting him.
McDonald said “We brought some against Tom DeLay and we shot him down as well, so we have a track record for doing this.”
