On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” Fox News political analyst Juan Williams suggested the political opposition to President Barack Obama could be rooted in racism because demographics representing the opposition indicate as much.
Williams said, “There’s lots of Republicans who think this man is a demon. This guy is awful. We got to get this guy out of here any way we can. He’s breaking the law.”
He continued, “You hear from Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann we use the impeachment word. No, we’re not talking impeachment that’s Democrats. Democrats are taking advantage of the fact that you demonized President Obama to this extent not only does it help them with fundraising, a lot of people especially in the minority communities see it an attack on the first black president and think it’s unfair.”
Host Chris Wallace asked if Williams was saying the president’s opposition was race based and Williams answered, “Well, all I can do is look at the numbers. If you look at the core constituency the people who are in Tea Party opposition support of impeachment there’s no diversity, it’s a white older group of people.”
“The people who want him impeach are all white and they are all older and in the far-right wing of the Republican Party,” he added.
