Sky News has released audio allegedly from September 10, 2001, of former president Bill Clinton speaking to a group of about 30 businessmen in Melbourne, Australia.
If true the audio was recored only hours before the September 11, 2001 terror attacks killing almost 3,000 Americans, with the presidents permission, by Michael Kroger, the former head of the Liberal Party in the Australian state of Victoria.
Kroger went on Sky News with host Paul Murray and played the tape of the former president saying, “I’m just saying, you know, if I were Osama bin Laden — he’s very smart guy, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about him — and I nearly got him once. I nearly got him. And I could have killed him, but I would have to destroy a little town called Kandahar in Afghanistan and kill 300 innocent women and children, and then I would have been no better than him. And so I didn’t do it.”
MSNBC reported that “According to The Washington Post, Clinton was paid $150,000 to speak to J.T. Campbell & Co. Pty. Ltd. in Melbourne that day,” but nowhere on the tape is a date mentioned.
