Friday on Morning Joe, Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-IL)  bragged about working with President Barack Obama and Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson to get as many as 5 million illegal immigrants amnesty using executive action and Mr. Obama’s “prosecutorial discretion.”

Luis Gutiérrez said:

Let me just say in about an hour, I’m going over to the White House. I’ll be meeting with Jeh Johnson and the chief legal counsel to the president of the United States. We’re going to sit down and we’re going to negotiate additional terms and avenues the president can use and prosecutorial discretion and I think we can get 3 million, 4 million, maybe 5 million names.

He added, “I believe the president of the United States has the authority under the law and should, because for the good of the nation, stop deporting low priorities, not criminal, undocumented in this country who have American citizen children.”

Gutiérrez, the first Latino to be elected to Congress from the Midwest, has been working with his fellow Illinois lawmaker Mr. Obama for many years on the issue of immigration. Gutiérrez was a leading advocate of President Obama signing the 2012 executive order “Dream Act” that is a large contributing factor in the current humanitarian crisis of ten of thousands of unaccompanied minors flooding across the U.S./Mexico border.
