Monday at the daily briefing, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said they were not worried about the “optics” of the President Barack Obama not traveling to the U.S.-Mexico border to see the humanitarian crisis unfolding with thousands of unaccompanied children illegally crossing into America.
Earnest said instead other officials in the administration reporting updates on the situation to the president was sufficient.
Last week Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) issued a challenge to Obama to come to the border during his stop in Texas this week for a fundraiser.
