A panel of guests on MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes” criticized and mocked former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for her evasive statements on gay marriage during an interview with NPR’s “Fresh Air” that aired on Thursday.
Columnist Dan Savage declared that he thought the interview was “hilarious” and that Clinton “squirmed and squirmed.” “All In” host Chris Hayes stated, “It struck me that this was a reminder of some of the ways in which Hillary Clinton, as a candidate, particularly back in 2008, wasn’t necessarily the best at being clear on things.”
The Atlantic’s Molly Ball said Clinton “seems to be a politician who’s always scrambling for the nearest safe patch of land.” Ball added, “We’ve been seeing all this hype she’s more comfortable in her skin now, she’s going to be able to be a more authentic candidate, one that doesn’t sound so calculating. Well, that doesn’t seem to be the case from this interview, where she seemed to be sort of spinning madly in every direction.”
