On Monday’s “Today” on NBC, co-host Matt Lauer took on outgoing White House press secretary Jay Carney over the Obama administration’s decision to swap five Guantanamo Bay prisoners for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl over the the weekend. Among those questions from Lauer included the health of Bergdahl, whether or not this swap puts Americans at risk, if this was negotiating with terrorist and how it may set a dangerous precedent.
Carney declined to offer details on Bergdahl’s health, which the administration had said was the motivating factor behind the timing of the swap.
