George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley stated there is “not much debate” that the Obama administration’s prisoner swap broke the law on this morning’s “CNN Newsroom.”
Turley stated that the exchange is part of “a long series of violations of federal law” by President Barack Obama. He added that Obama was “essentially arguing the very same principle of George [W.] Bush, that when it comes to Gitmo, he has almost absolute power.” Turley stated that he wasn’t a supporter of the detentions at Guantanamo Bay, but still believes that the law was clearly violated.
