On Thursday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel, former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) discussed a number of issues related to the news of the day with host Sean Hannity including President Barack Obama and his perceived weaknesses, the friction between the GOP establishment and the Tea Party and her role in the political process. But she also took on the scandal surrounding the Veterans Administration hospitals that has resulted in a number of deaths for American military veterans.
Partial transcript as follows:
HANNITY: How can we let them down and by the way, what does it say if we let our veterans down, we can’t get a website up and running in four years and now $700 million, what does that mean for everybody else’s health care down the road? Somebody I know mentioned death panels. Is the VA a death panel for many?
PALIN: That’s a great point.
HANNITY: Remember when governor — how many think it’s a death panel for the VA? Right?
PALIN: Well, that is what government-run health care will result in is inefficient — it takes away choices. And isn’t it ironic that those who are willing to sacrifice all to put their life on the line to allow the freedom of choices in health care and economic everything else, soldiers, airmen, marines — they are getting screwed by the VA and our commander-in-chief is in charge of this, ultimately.
HANITY: Our prisoners at Gitmo, this is one doctor for every 1 .5 prisoners.
PALIN: They’re receiving better care.
HANNITY: We have one doctor for every 35 vets. There is something wrong with that.
PALIN: Well, in many respects, illegal aliens in our country today are receiving better health care, more benefits than some of our troops.
HANNITY: It’s really scary.
