CNN’s Drew Griffin, one of the first reporters who took on the Veterans Administration hospital waiting time scandal, stated that the VA scandal was a “political bomb” that both parties believed the Obama administration was handling poorly in an appearance on CNN on Thursday. Griffin cited the overflow of members of Congress who wanted to “rail against the VA” at a hearing last night as evidence that the scandal is “a political crisis that’s just getting worse and worse and worse.”
In reference to the ongoing scandal, Griffin said “this is a political bomb for the president, and both sides don’t think he’s handling it very well.” He predicted that until Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki stepped down, the president would take more heat as more revelations about VA misconduct surfaced.
