Late Wednesday night at a House hearing involving the Veterans Administration hospital waitlist scandal, retired U.S. Marine Corps Colonel Rep. Paul Cook (R-CA) broke down in tears as he was questioning VA Department officials.

Cook choked up when he was saying “You know I… that I’m in a position to make a difference and I can’t do anything,” adding, “We can’t accept excuses or the fact that the lawyers are handling it anymore.”

Veterans Affairs Committee chairman Rep. Jeff Miller (R-FL) thanked the Cook for his service.
