On Tuesday, Rep. Jeff Miller (R-FL), the chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, dodged a line of questioning from conservative radio host Laura Ingraham regarding Miller’s sponsorship of the ENLIST Act.
Ingraham asked why the act, which would allow the children of illegal immigrants to serve in the military, was a good idea at a time of “shrinking military commissions.” Miller did not dispute that commissions were shrinking, and simply stated that he believes children of illegal immigrants should be allowed to serve in the military, a point he repeated numerous times throughout the interview. Miller also did not answer why the U.S. government should worry about allowing the children of illegal immigrants to earn citizenship by serving in the military.
