David Letterman Heckles Former NBA Commissioner David Stern for Inaction on Donald Sterling

On his Tuesday broadcast of CBS’s “The Late Show,” host David Letterman appeared to a jab at former NBA Commissioner David Stern for not acting on allegations of racist behavior from Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling during his tenure, which ended earlier this year.

LETTERMAN: I appreciate it. It’s, it’s a bad– bad time for American society, but good to examine something like this and, by God, get it out in the open and get it fixed.

During your 30 years as the NBA commissioner, now Donald Sterling had been accused of all kinds of ugly behavior, and I think he was even sued by the Department of Justice for discrimination. David, now, if you can– and perhaps some of this is confidential l– but if you can, tell us about the NBA’s reason for not acting until now.

STERN: I’m the only guy in the league who was Bar Mitzvah’d.

LETTERMAN: Thanks, Dave, for dropping by. Former NBA commissioner David Stern, ladies and gentlemen.

That comment from Stern appeared to have been from his appearance reading the show’s famed “Top 10 List” back in January.
