On Wednesday’s “Morning Joe” on MSNBC, a back-and-forth broke out between NBC White House correspondent Chuck Todd and former Bush communications director Nicolle Wallace over the merits of a comeback by Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ), who has weathered the so-called George Washington Bridge scandal over the past month.
JOE SCARBOROUGH, host “Morning Joe”: Chuck, Chris Christie had a pretty good day yesterday, didn’t he?
TODD: OK – I mean, I guess – how do you define –
WALLACE: Come on, oh my God.
TODD: I guess it’s a good day that what? That he didn’t get, that more indictments didn’t come in. He didn’t have more staff –
WALLACE: Oh my God, stop. Stop.
TODD: What’s the definition of a good day?
WALLACE: Oh my God. Rachel’s not on ’till 9.
TODD: No, Nicolle I just don’t –
WALLACE: Your legacy is that –
TODD: Hang on, we’re doing a feeding frenzy on somebody who – we’re not actually sitting back as … we’re overdoing it now in trying to build him back into something.
