State Department Spokeswoman Marie Harf had a tense exchange with Associated Press reporter Matt Lee about the justification of chemical weapons use as a reason to intervene in a country. Lee asked Harf if she was aware of any previous administrations using chemical weapons attacks as justification for military action. “I would strongly discourage comparing this situation to any other situation where chemical weapons have been discussed.” Lee eventually managed to get a “yes” from Ms. Harf but after pleading for examples Harf shut down the exchange saying, “I don’t think it’s relevant in this case. That’s my answer and we’re moving on.”
