A second incidence of anti-Jewish vandalism has surfaced at UC Davis. A report indicates that between January 22 and 23, someone wrote, “Grout out the Jews” on the tile grout in the men’s bathroom at the school’s Hillel House.

According to the The Davis Enterprise, a janitor had removed the hate-laden message from the stall but only came forward to report the incident on Wednesday, four days after two swastikas were spray-painted onto the exterior of a Jewish fraternity.

The swastikas appeared on Alpha Epsilon Pi’s exterior on Saturday, which was two days after Muslim students passed a motion urging the university to divest from companies doing business in Israel. Saturday is called Shabbat to Jews and is considered to be the holiest day of their week.

Davis Police have launched an investigation into the incidents and have reportedly classified both as hate crimes. They have not yet determined whether the two anti-Semitic incidents are related.

Anyone with information about either case is asked to call the Davis Police Department at 530-747-5400. A $2,500 reward is being offered with any information leading to the arrest of those involved.
