A 33-year-old AIG insurance company executive has been missing since Thursday night when he was last seen at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert after a company dinner.
When Omar Meza failed to show up t0 scheduled business meetings on Friday, concerned AIG colleagues and his wife Diane tried to locate him. They reported him missing by noon Friday according to the Los Angeles Times.
“I spoke to him … I was the last conversation per his telephone records … on Thursday night around 11:20 p.m.,” Diane said.
“It was late on a work night. I told him, ‘head to your hotel and call me when you get there.’ I never got that call,” she said. “I tried calling him but he didn’t answer. I just went to bed. Didn’t think too much of it.”
Omar suffers from short-term memory loss as a result of a car accident last year. However, it is unclear whether that had any effect on his being missing.
CNN affiliates KESQ and KMIR reported that Meza’s jacket and wallet were found on the resort’s golf course. Though the Riverside County sheriff’s department could not confirm the details about his jacket and wallet being found, they did confirm that a missing persons report had been filed.
The ongoing investigation, according to the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station, is employing all available resources including bloodhounds and Desert Search and Rescue.
Diane Meza told the Times that “It’s so out of character for him. He’s highly responsible and reliable.” Friends and family of Meza created a Facebook page to post Omar photos and share updates to aid the ongoing search.
