MATAMOROS, Tamaulipas – Mexican federal authorities arrested a student wanted for his role in a series of violent university protests in Mexico City which left damage and injured several bystanders. The fugitive made his way from Mexico City to the U.S. border in an apparent attempt to hide in Texas.
Federal authorities confirmed to Breitbart Texas the recent arrest of 18-year-old Cesar Abel “El Miclo” Gutierrez Lopez in Matamoros, a city used as a springboard by the Gulf Cartel to smuggle thousands of migrants into Texas. Gutierrez Lopez is allegedly one of more than a dozen violent university protesters commonly called “porros” facing criminal charges in connection with a series of riots at Mexico’s Autonomous University (UNAM). Following his arrest, authorities transported El Miclo to Mexico City for a trial.
Gutierrez Lopez is believed to be one of more than a dozen students who assaulted another group of students who were peacefully protesting at the UNAM campus on September 3. According to authorities, there were 17 arrests in connection with the riots, including 15 adults and 2 underage teens who all stand accused of brutally assaulting protesters.
Authorities believe that Gutierrez was trying to make his way into Texas to avoid prosecution.
Editor’s Note: Breitbart Texas traveled to the Mexican States of Tamaulipas, Coahuila, and Nuevo León to recruit citizen journalists willing to risk their lives and expose the cartels silencing their communities. The writers would face certain death at the hands of the various cartels that operate in those areas including the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas if a pseudonym were not used. Breitbart Texas’ Cartel Chronicles are published in both English and in their original Spanish. This article was written by “J.A. Espinoza” from Tamaulipas.
