MIGUEL ALEMAN, Tamaulipas — Two Gulf Cartel gunmen died this week immediately south of Falcon Lake during the latest series of large-scale shootouts.

The fierce gun battle took place this week near the town of Nueva Ciudad Guerrero, Tamaulipas, an area seeing an increase in violence as forces from the Cartel Del Noreste faction of Los Zetas encroaches on Gulf Cartel territory.

Mexican soldiers were patrolling the area when they spotted a makeshift cartel camp on the Mexican shores of Falcon Lake. The gunmen had several SUVs with makeshift armor plating for fights with the military.

Two Gulf Cartel hitmen died in the gun battle–the rest managed to escape, leaving behind three SUVs and several bundles of marijuana.

Some of the vehicles were also outfitted with makeshift stands to hold 50 caliber machine guns and other artillery pieces.

Photographs from the scene depict several SUVs purportedly burned during the gun battle.

Breitbart Texas reported on several skirmishes in the area. Terrorized local residents claimed to see convoys of more than 20 Gulf Cartel SUVs moving around, searching for rivals.

Editor’s Note: Breitbart Texas traveled to the Mexican States of Tamaulipas, Coahuila, and Nuevo León to recruit citizen journalists willing to risk their lives and expose the cartels silencing their communities.  The writers would face certain death at the hands of the various cartels that operate in those areas including the Gulf Cartel and Los Zetas if a pseudonym were not used. Breitbart Texas’ Cartel Chronicles are published in both English and in their original Spanish. This article was written by “A.C. Del Angel” from Tamaulipas.
