Immigration officials deported an MS-13 member on Friday who is wanted for murder in El Salvador. The aggravated felon re-entered the U.S. after being deported in 2014.
Officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) escorted 32-year-old Raul Ramos-Guido to the Alexandria International Airport in Louisiana. El Salvadoran law enforcement officers were waiting for Ramos-Guido at the airport in San Salvador, El Salvador.
The Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang member has a lengthy criminal and immigration history. Apart from his deportation in January 2014, officials arrested Ramos for immigration violations in April 2015. He lived in Falls Church, Virginia, at the time.
Officers targeted Ramos because he is an aggravated felon previously removed from the United States. Officials prosecuted Ramos-Guido for illegal re-entry and sentenced him to 36 months in prison.
While Ramos served his time in federal prison, law enforcement authorities from El Salvador issued an Interpol Red Notice for his arrest in connection to a homicide charge in that Central American country.
In late December, ERO officials took Ramos into custody as federal prison officials prepared his release.
ERO Washington Field Office Director Russ Holt said in a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas, “ICE is committed to ensuring that our communities are not poisoned by the violent gang members that operate within them.”
“We stand by our partners in law enforcement across the local, federal and international communities as we work in tandem to continue maintaining our collective safety and security,” he added.
Breitbart Texas reported in December that during Fiscal Year 2017, agents with Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) arrested almost 800 members of the hyper-violent gang who were present in the U.S. ICE officials reported the arrest of 4,818 criminal gang members, including 796 MS-13. The gang members were arrested for “a myriad of criminal activity, including murder, extortion, narcotics and weapons trafficking, human smuggling/trafficking and prostitution” and other crimes.
The apprehension and arrests of MS-13 members in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector of South Texas are up 212 percent during the first three months of Fiscal Year 2018 over the same period in 2017, Breitbart Texas reported in January.
President Trump told Congress during his State of the Union Address in January:
Tonight, I am calling on Congress to finally close the deadly loopholes that have allowed MS-13, and other criminal gangs, to break into our country. We have proposed new legislation that will fix our immigration laws and support our ICE and Border Patrol agents.
Last July when speaking to law enforcement officers in Brentwood, New York, the President promised “to destroy the vile criminal cartel MS-13 and many other gangs,” Breitbart News reported. President Trump also referred to gang members as “animals.”
