U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Tuscon Sector stopped two more previously deported sex offenders from re-entering the U.S.

Agents working from the Welton Station in southwestern Arizona apprehended a group of 11 illegal immigrants who illegally crossed the border near Tacna. The agents arrested the illegal immigrants and transported them to their station for investigation and processing, according to information provided to Breitbart Texas by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.

During the investigation, agents identified one of the men, 26-year-old Jose Luis Zuniga-Doblado, as a Honduran national with a lengthy criminal and immigration history. Agents learned that immigration officials deported Zuniga on three separate occasions following convictions for sexual assault and aggravated assault.

Officials stated the Honduran national will be held for prosecution on charges of illegal re-entry after removal as a sex offender.

On that same day, Tucson Sector agents assigned to the Ajo Station apprehended yet another previously deported sex offender attempting to illegally re-enter the U.S.  Officials said agents were working in a remote area near Why, Arizona, when they discovered three illegal immigrants who illegally crossed the border from Mexico.

During a background check, the agents discovered that Alex Luna-Hernandez, a 29-year-old Mexican national, has a conviction from a Santa Barbara, California, court for “Lewd and Lascivious Acts with a Child Under 14.”

Further investigation revealed that a Kings County, New York, court convicted the Mexican national years earlier on a charge of “Assault in the Second Degree with Intent to Cause Serious Physical Injury,” officials stated.

Luna is being held pending felony charges of illegal re-entry after removal as a sex offender.

All of the other illegal immigrants are being processed for immigration violations, CBP officials stated.
